Update on Encampment Clean-ups
An update on recent and upcoming locations where encampment clean-ups will occur and areas where the California Vehicle Code (CVC) will be enforced.
- 5th Street between roughly Solano and Chestnut – enforcement of the CVC – occurred Wednesday, June 11th – vehicles were provided 72-hour tags on Friday, June 6th
- Admiral Callaghan and Turner Parkway – encampment noticing occurred on Thursday, June 12th with clean-up to begin Tuesday, June 17th (this is a joint effort with the Costco/Fairview development as construction is anticipated to near the encampment in the coming weeks)
- Downtown Locations (Ferry Parking Lot and areas surrounding City Hall) – clean-up efforts will resume on June 30th. Thursday, June 12th City staff began re-engaging with the individuals that requested ADA accommodations (from the original clean-up scheduled for May 27th) and will continue outreach efforts prior to the clean-up beginning.
Smaller RV or vehicle-based locations (1-4 RVs/vehicles) may also be addressed by VPD Officers and Police Assistants (PA) through enforcing the CVC as they encounter them during their normal patrol or as they are working through clearing SeeClickFix reports.
Staff are creating a schedule for encampment clean-ups to occur over the next several weeks, which will be shared with the community and resource providers. That information will be published on this page once created. (Please note: encampment locations are subject to change depending on potential higher priority or time sensitive locations that need to be addressed.)
Additionally, Caltrans will be conducting clean-ups at the following three locations:
