Widely known as Project Homekey, Vallejo's Broadway Project is a 47-unit Permanent Supportive Housing Program that will be located at 2441Broadway Street. The City received $12M million grant after a successful application process. The project will include a community room and courtyard. On-site supportive services will be client-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed to help participants with goal setting, life skills, financial literacy, budgeting, needs assessments, and connections to benefits and community resources.

Construction is anticipated to conclude in September 2024 and participants be moved in by December 30, 2024.

    Over the past few weeks, the Factory_OS modules have been transported from the Factory_OS storage lot on Mare Island to 2441 Broadway Ave. The modules are now “stacked” at the property and ready to connect to utilities. Construction will continue for the next few months with an anticipated completion date in October 2023.

    Once construction is completed, SHELTER, Inc. will oversee management of the property and provide wrap-around services for residents, such as case management and employment assistance. SHELTER, Inc. has experience managing properties for more than 30 years, and understands that trauma and unique perspectives of participants, their needs and how to support their journey to self-sufficiency.

    The City anticipates having the building in full occupancy by January 2024 and is looking forward to having another permanent supportive housing project that will help move individuals off the street into a permanent housing opportunity.

    In the past few months, the City of Vallejo secured $3.5 million dollars from the Solano County ARPA Funds to support the Broadway Project. Construction has been ongoing for the past few months, and is estimated to be done by early Fall.

    Resource Connect Solano will be doing the primary referrals for qualified residents and tentatively anticipate people moving into the apartments by the Fall 2023. Shelter, Inc. will be managing the day-to-day operations of the Broadway Project. Residents will not only receive affordable housing but also wrap-around services to become stabilized as they exit homelessness.

    Broadway Project Breaks Ground

    Broadway Project has broken ground!

    The City of Vallejo received $12.1M from the Department of Housing and Community Development Division through their Homekey Round 2 grant to fund the Broadway Project which is designed to serve the unhoused population in our community. The project will include 47 permanent supportive units, 1 managers unit, a community room, courtyard and access to a rooftop deck. The City has partnered with the Firm Foundation Community Housing to develop and build the project and FactoryOS who built the modular units. The City will also be partnering with Shelter INC who will provide supportive services once the project is opened. These services will include on-site case management, outside service coordination, life skills classes (including budgeting, stress management, computer skills, job training, nutrition, and hygiene) and public transportation assistance.

    The City looks forward to the completion of construction and a successful opening in 2023.
