I’ve been living in Vallejo for about two years now. We definitely need improvement in keeping our streets clean! There’s too much homelessness in Vallejo and it drives people away from the city. Downtown Vallejo (by the fairy) has so much potential to be like downtown Alameda! It’s such a nice view but again there are not enough businesses around for people to spend time there. We also need the city to start making money through traffic citations! Even Oakland has a better traffic citations system than we do!

The trash problem in this city creates a major eyesore, and is a turn off for anyone visiting the city. It’s depressing to constantly see trash strewn about what could be a very beautiful city. The roads are in horrible condition. At the very least they need to be replaced and repainted. In a perfect world we would start to put in some traffic control measures as well to deter the sideshow activity in the city and to make it safe for bikers and pedestrians. The major corridors of this city are in desperate need of beautification. Sonoma is the main thoroughfare through town and it’s pretty ugly. New landscaping, a divider, walking paths etc. would go a long way to attracting more people. The waterfront needs to be cleaned up and developed, and the downtown should continue to have murals, benches, landscaping added. I’d like to see the downtown area continue to attract new businesses like Anchor Pantry. The downtown could be as nice as the Benicia Main Street, Petaluma downtown etc. if it revitalizes. It would be nice to have a better class of higher end box stores such as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods etc. as well.

Place a high priority on restoring the Municipal Marina to a fully operational condition. Years of failing to dredge have resulted in significant limitations of boat owners ability to move their crafts throughout the marina, especially a low tidal conditions. As a result, so many owners have left the marina that current occupancy is below 35 %. Many dock facilities have also become degraded from lack of maintenance. This is a highly visible asset and should be an attraction to potential developers. In its current condition, it doesn't provide any attraction. Its condition is a red flag of warning to them, and an embarrassment to the City. This condition portrays the city as "Anti-economic development". Any meaningful ED goal must address this debacle immediately.

The Vallejo launch ramp is in a prime location for a variety of boaters. Unfortunately, it's unable to be used half the time due to tidal constraints. I'd even refrain from calling it a launch ramp at low tide. It becomes more of a tidal marsh with the amount of sediment that has filled in the ramps. As long as I've been utilizing the launching facilities in Vallejo this has been an issue. Now I understand that dredging the channel into the launch ramps as well as the ramps themselves isn't a high priority for the city. That being said this issue has gone on long enough. It's only going to continue to get worse if nothing is done about it. Moreover, the docks and parking lots for the ramps have long been a haven for liveaboard freeloaders and an array of other unsavory characters. I'd venture to say that the vast majority of vehicles in the parking lot have no business at all with any maritime-related activities. Now that wouldn't be an issue for me if half of them looked like they'd be able to leave the parking lot under their own power, but that's not the case. This facility is a black mark on the city of Vallejo and will continue to be until something is done. I sincerely hope I start to see improvements being made regarding this but I won't be holding my breath. Sincerely, One fed-up citizen
